What You’ll Find in (Almost) Every Fall Hallmark Channel Movie: A Guide

Hallmark Channel is the home of all-things holiday — but before Christmas takes over the network, viewers are treated to annual fall-filled films.

Dubbed “Fall Into Love,” the season of autumn-themed movies stretches from September through October and there are a few items that are in almost all of the films. For starters, yellow and orange hues are everywhere you look … and we’re not complaining.

“Of all the Hallmark movies I’ve ever done, this one is actually packed more full of a season than I’ve ever seen,” Nikki DeLoach told Celebrity Page in October 2020 of her festive feature Sweet Autumn. “Anything that you can possibly imagine goes into the season of fall … it is in this movie.”

Two years later, Hallmark brought pumpkins to the forefront in a major way with 2022’s Pumpkin Everything.

“One of the most magical things about the fall season is that anything can happen,” star Corey Sevier said in September 2022 of the movie during a behind-the-scenes visit from set. He added that his character was a “fan of the pumpkin spice latte.”

Scroll down for a complete breakdown of what you can expect to find in nearly all Hallmark fall features:

Pumpkins — Usually in a Patch
Hallmark leans into pumpkin décor in almost every fall film, often writing in a pumpkin patch or carving scene for the lead character. In fact, in 2022 they released a movie actually called Pumpkin Everything. But don’t worry, no pumpkins were harmed in the making of the film. A Festival
You can’t travel to one of Hallmark’s fictional small towns without stumbling across a festival. In addition to traditional fall activities, such as bobbing for apples, these festivals usually feature music — sometimes sung by the main star. Most Festive Films With This Item: Roadhouse Romance, Finding Love in Mountain View, Field Day, Falling for Vermont, Notes of Autumn and Country at Heart. Crown Media United States
Leaves — In a Pile or Changing Colors
The network uses the changing of leaf colors as a beautiful way to bring viewers into the autumn season. Whether the characters are wandering the NYC streets and see different hues in the trees, or they rake up leaves to jump in, the foliage can’t be missed. Most Festive Films With This Item: Love, Fall and Order, Autumn in the City, Sweet Autumn, Finding Love in Mountain View and Falling for Look Lodge. Natalie Cass/Crown Media United States
Apple Picking … or Orchard Activities
Apple picking in the fall … groundbreaking! While the idea isn’t exactly unique, Hallmark makes sure pumpkins aren’t the only food getting love in its holiday features. Apples — and in 2017’s Harvest Love, pears — also get their time in the limelight. Most Festive Films With This Item: Harvest Love, Love, Fall and Order, Falling for You and Love, Of Course. Scenes from the Great Outdoors
Horseback riding, hiking and fishing are just a few of the outdoor activities viewers can expect from the annual “Fall Into Love” lineup. Other date-approved outings include kayaking, strolls at sunset and picnics in the orchards. Most Festive Films With This Item: Harvest Moon, Falling for Vermont, Love in the Great Smoky Mountains: A National Park Romance and Retreat to You. Bettina Strauss/Crown Media United States
A New England Backdrop — Or Upstate New York
Both New England and upstate New York have quintessential fall vibes that Hallmark has managed to capture on screen year after year. The cute towns with even sweeter traditions make fans feel like they’ve transported to the east coast without leaving the couch. Most Festive Films With This Item: Falling for Vermont, Sweet Autumn, Falling for You, Autumn in the City, A Harvest Wedding and Notes of Autumn. Bettina Strauss/Crown Media United States
Baking … and Lots of It
While baking goes together with the Christmas holiday, the real kick off to baking season begins in fall. The network proves that time and again with its pie-themed movies, like 2016’s Pumpkin Pie Wars. Most Festive Films With This Item: Pumpkin Pie Wars, Falling for You, Dating the Delaneys, Harvest Love, All of My Heart: The Wedding and Truly, Madly, Sweetly. Bettina Strauss/Crown Media United States
Vibrant Orange and Yellow Decor
Warm yellows and orange hues are front and center in Hallmark’s seasonal movies — and we’re not complaining. There are few more Halloween-centered films, but overall, the network plays up the harvest colors. Most Festive Films With This Item: Sweet Autumn, Roadhouse Romance, Pumpkin Everything and All of My Heart: The Wedding. Steven Ackerman/Crown Media United States
Farm or Ranch Locations
What’s more on brand than a farm or ranch movie for the season? Nothing! Whether it’s falling in love with a rancher while on vacation or learning to harvest on a dreamy man’s farm, Hallmark is all-in on these types of locations. Most Festive Films With This Item: Under the Autumn Moon, Harvest Moon, A Harvest Wedding and Taking the Reins. Allen Fraser/Crown Media United States
Love, Duh
You can’t have a Hallmark movie without some romantic story line. Several autumn features include weddings that take place in September, October or November. Other movies subtly weave the love story into the season with its colorful backdrops and florals. Either way, fans get what they want: a happily ever after!
