“I think the main priority was to get across the fact that the big misconception that has been painted is that the exit was Meghan’s doing,” Mikhaila Friel, royal reporter for Insider, tells Us. “In order to counteract that narrative we really delved back into Harrys’ childhood and dug up old interviews where he even expressed his desire to leave the royal family years before he ever met Meghan.”

However, drawing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex presented it’s challenges for illustrator Josh Adams. “The hardest thing to do is to draw even featured good looking people and Harry and Meghan are actually really just beautiful people,” he notes.

Harry and Meghan announced their plans to step back from their senior royal duties in January. They made their move to North America shortly after and in June purchased a $14.65 million home in Santa Barbara, California.

With the digital comic book now available on theinsider.com, Adams is hoping that if Harry and Meghan come across it “they feel that we didn’t get anything wrong.”

“They were sort of the last people on my mind, even though I was doing a story about them because at the end of the day they do know the ending of the story,” Adams tells Us. “I was thinking more about the rest of the world when we did this story. So my hope is that the people that read it get a better understanding of them and can relate to them a little better.”
